Year 7 Go Green!
Our Year 7 Green Team is already making a difference.
On Friday 19th September, the eco team carried out a litter pick before planting over 100 daffodil bulbs on the school grounds. It was wonderful to hear our young people discuss important issues regarding the environment and sustainability. The team aims to share environmental information across the school and embed good environmental practice in school, at home and in the wider community.
Wythenshawe’s Barny Beswick, who won the Green Award at the BBC Radio Manchester Make A Difference Awards 2023, has been working with our students and Green Team lead Mrs Groarke-Young for over a year. As well as volunteering his time, Barny also provides all the Green Team’s resources, many of which are locally foraged, recycled or donated. The bulbs for this project were kindly donated by Asda.
This Autumn, students will be planting trees and bulbs in the local area. The Year 7 and Year 8 Green Teams are excited to be working towards the Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools Award this year.
